Ornate Vintage Dresser in Distressed Off White

Off White Ornate Dresser - Before & AfterThis ornate dresser was part of a set I purchased, including a nightstand and matching mirrors featured in recent posts. This early 70’s set is marked by funky character–and was primed with potential for a new look!

painted, glazed, and distressed the pieces in four different colors. The nightstand was upstyled in Robin’s Egg Blue and Black, while the mirrors were transformed in Barn Red and Off White.

I also chose Off White for the dresser, with heavy Tobacco colored Glaze accenting the detailed molding and ornate areas. Distressing popped out the original wood tones, and especially drew attention to the ornate areas on the top drawers and middle door.

The original pulls and hardware are a big part of the new look. They pop off the new color, and proclaim the vintage 70’s style!

Repurposed Furniture Ideas & Inspiration

Repurposed Furniture Ideas & InspirationVintage furniture that’s dated, beyond repair, and discarded may be repurposed and recreated into one-of-a-kind accents that pop with character and live on with charm.

With paint, glaze and distressing, old headboards, often not tall enough for newer beds, may be repurposed in coat or towel racks, chalk boards, and even photo displays.

Broken old chairs may also take on a new life as coat racks. The same may be said with small cabinet doors and drawer fronts from dressers discarded by the roadside.

Even the sides and legs of coffee tables as well as the sides and ends of cribs may repurposed! You can find examples of all of these in our Repurposed Wall Pieces collection.
