Chunky End Table in Distressed Barn Red – Before & After

This chunky old end table was given a new life with paint, glaze and distressing

Refinished in Barn Red, it was accented with Black Glaze that highlighted the molding, dents and dings.

Distressing revealed both the white primer and original wood tones. Both added extra pop and contrast to the new finish.

The brass knobs were traded out for old white marble and brass knobs, which tied in great with the new look.

Footboard Repurposed into Coat Rack & Chalkboard

Twin Footboard Re-purposed into Coat Rack and ChalkboardHead and footboards are great candidates for repurposing, especially when they are older.  Those from the vintage era tend to be shorter in height, making them  a mismatch for today’s larger beds.

Enter the opportunity to repurpose and make a statement on your wall with one-of-a-kind coat racks and chalk boards!

This twin footboard is a great example.  Refinished in Barn Red with Black Glaze, and distressed down to white primer, it makes a bold and eye-catching statement with it’s chunky as well as linear design.  A chalkboard was created on it’s raised center panel, while a coat {or towel} rack was made on the lower cross member.

Chunky Nightstand – Before & After

Chunky Nightstand in Antiqued White - Before & After

I think this may be the thickest, chunkiest, loudest, most obnoxious–or whatever you will call it–nightstand I have seen. And I couldn’t pass it up!

It is painted Antiqued White, with heavy Espresso glaze, and distressing for a great rustic look. Includes original weathered brass hardware.

Antiqued White Dresser – Before & After

Chunky Vintage Dresser in Antiqued White from Facelift FurnitureVintage Chunky Dresser ~ in Antiqued White with Tea Stain Glaze.

One of the things I like most about refinishing furniture with paint and glaze is seeing how an ugly dresser like this can be transformed into a beautiful and prized piece. With all it’s molding, and very solid construction, there was tons of potential beyond this dated appearance.

The dresser was painted antiqued white, distressed, and then tea-stained glaze was applied to provide the off-white, antiqued look.
